Intrepid Receives Accreditation for Laboratory

On November 30, 2021, Intrepid received the Authorization to Operate (ATO) from the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and National Industrial Security Program (NISP) Authorization Office (NAO) for its Tactical Innovation and Experimentation Laboratory (TIEL).

The three-year accreditation is the maximum approval and gives Intrepid the authority to complete classified work for a variety of customers in the TIEL, located at the company’s headquarters in Cummings Research Park.

“For a company the size of Intrepid to have this state-of-the-art classified lab is huge,” said Mark Statham, Intrepid Business Unit Leader for PEO Missiles and Space. “It is unheard of, and it is a capability that has only been seen in larger companies until now.”

The TIEL integrates leading-edge agile methodologies with flexible and open-architecture technologies to rapidly create customizable, robust, and collaborative virtual test environments. It provides power, scalability, and flexibility to effectively support the near and far term needs of customers.

For Intrepid, this is a monumental victory, allowing the company to blaze a new trail with the development of a classified system at its corporate headquarters. Additionally, it grows the company’s future potential for government customers and classified work.

“With this major milestone accomplished and all of the hard work along with it, we see this as an opportune time to start providing the needed lab support to our customers for prototyping, testing, and analysis,” said Nancy Herthum, Director of the TIEL and Interoperability Programs. “This also opens the door to provide this asset to other organizations and agencies. The door is wide open.”
